Obituary

Victor Manuel Marrero, 63, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a five-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Born on August 14, 1962, in Staunton, Virginia, Victor was the son of Jose Manuel Marrero Canino and Margarita Caridad Guaty de Marrero. He was raised in Mexico City, Mexico, where he graduated from Greengates School. He then earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.

In 1989, Victor married Connie Cameron of Osceola, Iowa. Together, they raised three sons: Victor Thomas, Nicholas Andrew, and Eric Antonio. The family lived in Mexico City for 12 years, where Victor worked in global procurement, a field that inspired his love for travel and building international connections. In 2002, the family relocated to San Antonio, Texas, where Victor continued his career. His dedication to his family was evident in his unwavering support for his sons, never missing a game or event.

In 2020, Victor and Connie moved to Godley, TX, to be closer to their children and enjoy a quieter life in their dream home. Victor was diagnosed with Parkinsonism/Lewy Body Dementia a few months later. Connie and the boys remained by his side throughout his battle with the disease, supported by numerous family members and friends who helped care for him as the disease progressed.

Victor’s memory will live on through his wife, Connie Marrero, and their sons: Victor Marrero, Nick Marrero (Shellie Virden-Lytton), and Eric Marrero (fiancée Katie Basta). He is also survived by his mother, Margarita Caridad Guaty de Marrero; siblings Jose Marrero, Virginia Wood (Randy), Daniel Marrero (Priscilla), and Alex Marrero; mother-in-law Sharon Cameron; sisters-in-law Mary Marrero, Bonnie Perry (Bill), Linda Perkins (Johnny), and brother-in-law Brian Cameron (Michelle). Additional survivors include nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Manuel Marrero Canino, and father-in-law, Rex Donald Cameron.
